My Travel Highlight: A Blue-Hour New Year in Changbai Mountain

No adventure compares to my 2021 New Year's trip to the winter paradise of Changbai Mountain with my dearest friends. Imagine racing through snow-blanketed trails on snowmobiles, our laughter echoing in the crisp mountain air. We drifted down the mystical "Unfreezing River," surrounded by glittering ice formations that sparkled like diamonds. The ethereal frost-covered trees (雾凇) stood as nature's crystal sculptures, casting a dreamlike spell over the landscape. In a snowy forest straight out of a fairy tale, we fed gentle elk, their breath visible in the frosty air. As the day faded into twilight, we skied together under a sky painted in hues of amber and sapphire during that magical blue hour—a moment so perfect, time seemed to stand still.

What made it extraordinary wasn't just the activities, but sharing that magic with friends who turned frozen landscapes into a warm tapestry of laughter and connection.
