The history Kimura shared with us about the temples and shrines was educational. He also shared some of the history of Tokyo that made the journey interesting and more thank just a tour.
MoreDezarae wanted one trip that could keep everyone happy — two teenagers with very different passions, a husband dreaming of history and bullet trains, and herself longing for temples and the quiet beauty of Mt. Fuji. It seemed impossible to please them all — until Travel Designer Monica stitched the puzzle together into one seamless story.
For Dezarae, planning an international trip for four sounded thrilling — but also daunting. Her 16-year-old was obsessed with Studio Ghibli, the 17-year-old lived for anime and Akihabara, her husband dreamed of Hiroshima's Peace Memorial, and she longed for the serenity of temples and Mt. Fuji.
How could one country, in just eight days, deliver on so many different dreams?

The turning point came with Monica's design.
Instead of compromise, every voice was honored. Tokyo days blended ancient shrines and the futuristic Skytree with whimsical stops like the Capybara Café. The teens got their anime paradise: a magical morning at the Ghibli Museum and an Akihabara adventure, cameras clicking at every neon sign.
Then came a moment of awe — the family standing together at Mt. Fuji's 5th Station, the clouds parting as if on cue. In Kyoto, they slipped into kimonos for a tea ceremony, laughter bubbling as a photographer captured their transformation. "It felt like stepping into history," Dezarae later recalled.
The journey deepened in Hiroshima. Walking through the Peace Memorial Park, stories of resilience unfolded, sparking quiet conversations between parents and teenagers that no classroom could have inspired.
By the time Osaka's neon lights and the thrill of Universal Studios wrapped up the adventure, every family member had lived their dream — and discovered new ones they hadn't expected.
What began as a logistical challenge ended as something far greater: a once-in-a-lifetime journey where a family didn't just see Japan — they experienced it together, each in their own way.
