The Chiang Mai CAD Khomloy Sky Lantern Festival (Nov 5–6, 2025) is the largest of its kind, drawing over 15,000 participants in a magical celebration of light, hope, and new beginnings. Don't miss your chance to be part of the world's most iconic lantern release.
We've been helping travelers experience the magic of Yi Peng since 2018 as Asia Highlights. In 2025, we brought all our brands — including China Highlights, Japan Highlights, and Asia Highlights — together under one name: Highlights Travel.
Book with us for the best experience:
✅ Best View – We offer the best seats in the entire venue — directly facing the pagoda and fireworks. It's the most immersive and photogenic location for capturing the magic.
✅ Best Value – As the largest official ticket partner of CAD, we're able to offer prices that are $20–$100 lower than major platforms like Viator — for the exact same ticket.
✅ Friendly Policy – Enjoy full refunds up to 21 days before the event. We also help ensure your group sits together — something other platforms don't always guarantee.

Chiang Mai CAD Lantern Festival FAQ
1. Which date should I choose: November 5th or 6th, 2025?
Both dates offer the same activities, but if you can, we recommend November 5th. You'll get to experience the ceremony first, share it with friends, and then join exclusive downtown activities on November 6th (parade, candle ceremony, and floating lanterns on the Ping River).
2. Where is the CAD venue, and how do I get there?
The event takes place at the CAD Cultural Center Lanna, about 45 minutes from Chiang Mai Old Town. Your ticket includes round-trip transfer, with the meeting point at PAYAP UNIVERSITY PIH Student Dormitory. We recommend arriving early, around 1–2 PM, to avoid crowds.
3. Are the lanterns environmentally friendly?
Yes! The lanterns are made from biodegradable materials like recycled paper and bamboo. They meet local government standards and are designed to avoid fire hazards.
Additionally, experienced staff will gather and safely dispose of lanterns within 48 hours after the event, ensuring the area remains clean.
4. What Is the Difference Between the Yi Peng and the Loy Krathong?
Yi Peng (Chiang Mai) celebrates sky lantern releases, symbolizing letting go of misfortune.
Loy Krathong (nationwide) involves floating boats on rivers, offering thanks to the river goddess. Both festivals often take place around the same time, but Yi Peng is all about lanterns, while Loy Krathong is about water floats.
